Reflection....
Well so far im kinda sticking to the schedule that i made for my SOI but the thing is when i got to the library to look for books on people like the elephant man etc, random stuff come up! i think i might have to take a trip to the library saturday morning before work to see if i can gather up more research and maybe look in the guiness book of records to see what they have in there.
Johns Lesson
In johns lesson on friday, he took us to an exhibition in the custard factory, and i thought these particular pieces of photography that were exhibited related to my project because alot of people in society would see them as outcasts and freaks and not normal. It also reminded me of the man who was on a Channel 4 documentry called the catman who had changed his appearance to look like a cat. Even though these people have altered their own body to look this way, they wouldnt be classed as part of normal society.

KAtie Eary
This designer looked at human anatomy in her work. I like the way she has developed her print using the human skeletal system.
Initial Designs
Well the other day, Adam said that foundations ability to design and illustrate was weak which I though was BULLSHIT cause I know i can draw aND SO can alot of my classmates so I have decided to draw most of mine myself, here are some of my initial ideas; =]
Comfortable...
In my sketchbook, i have looked at people being comfortable in their own skin, I am thinking of layering up the garments I make, I want one of the fabrics that I produce to have a skin like texture, not necessarily human skin. I have tried using glue on to create different textures on fabric and on my own skin. I like the green sample because the texture is rough and harsh like animal skin, but i think that I want to try and experiment with fabrics like rubber, and wetsuit fabrics to see if i create something =].

Reflection
Well today we had little min crits, to describe our work and i found it quite hard to describe what i was doing because my ideas have changed so much in my head that my project isnt flowing like i originally wanted it to. So I'm going to start research again, still using most of the research i have though.
i have decided that i am going to look at human deformaties physical and non physical, still questioning what is normal. i am going to look at human zoos, which used to take place and human freak shows and siamese twins etc. For my designs i am going to take inspiration from the shapes of the people with physical deformaties. i am going to explore beauty and the fact that barbie is perfect, but if she were a real life model, her measurements would be 36/19/33 and she would be 6ft tall.!!

Jenny Saville.
Jenny Saville is an artist that deals with obesity, but what interested me was the fact that she painted a transvestite!

WorkWorkWork!
After a very productive day with the lovely Shan and Aimee at MP, finishing of my sense and sports where? garments, i finally brought a sketchbook! this is my first page =] i have decided to start my sketchbook by questioning beauty, and how it relates to what is normal. Society today is obsessed with fitting in, and being more than normal; Perfect..but yh lots and lots more to come!!!

CIRCUS FREAKKKKSSSS!
Even though they look different on the outside, people with physical abnormalities are the same on the inside as any other person, i think i may experiment with an all in one bodysuit which would act as a 2nd skin, to make these people seem just like me an you =]
